THE FRENCH LINEN SECTOR
Alpine and Atelier Tuffery team-up again: linen from Safilin, produced from flax plants entirely harvested in Normandy. Together, and with our local excellent partners, we have created an innovative 100% French linen fabric. It’s a new fabric that is natural and environmentally friendly with a unique appearance and unparalleled comfort.
The Ernest Alpine line offers a fitted straight cut for excellent chinos which are eco-friendly and innovative. The unique, local fabric is made of 100% French linen. It is woven using only indigo-dyed yarns, giving the trousers a deep, intense colour. These chinos feature exclusive details, with subtle touches of design from the Alpine brand providing a unique touch to sober and elegant trousers.

The expert range seeks perfection in denim, creating clothes with the most beautiful fabrics such as silk, wool and artisanal selvedge, naturally tinted, for unique pieces.
Two years ago, our two brands, both dedicated to excellence, revealed the fruit of our first collaboration: the creation of exclusive, innovative jeans with a smartphone pocket.
Today, we are back on the road with Alpine, this time for a creation full of meaning.
For this new joint creative adventure, we want to push the envelope a little further by creating a socially innovative project that has a significant ecological impact.
For several years Atelier Tuffery has been working with ethical and local natural fibres. After working with wool from Lozère, then with Occitan hemp, linen naturally found a place in our thoughts.
And it is this material that caught the attention of Alpine. Historically and still today, France is at the forefront of flax cultivation. The fibre we are using is fully tracked by Safilin through to producers’ fields to ensure total transparency. It is then woven by experts in Autan, in the Tarn, who produce this entirely indigo canvas.
“Some of our pieces have a first name, directly inspired by one of the characters who have marked the history of the Tuffery family.
These are the lives of people who gave birth to our clothes, such as Ernest.”
Gourmand and a fine connoisseur of nature, Ernest was the chef who knew, years ago, how to enhance still further local products in his kitchen and promote the working of the region’s soils.

At Atelier Tuffery, all of our materials are cut in the workshop and each piece is assembled by hand. This ensures that we create high-quality garments which meet our demanding standards, which have not changed in 125 years. We prioritise a carefully managed production flow for the well-being of our employees and to avoid waste. If the garment you order is not in stock, it will take us just a little bit of time to create it especially for you. Quality takes time so be patient, you won’t regret it.
