The Excellence of French Know-How

Created entirely from a traditional cotton canvas in 4 twill, the Juliette skirt offers a pretty trapeze shape. The cut is notable for the high waist with loops to slip a belt through. It reaches to the knees and opens in the front with a series of copper buttons. Two distinctively angled large side pockets structure the whole of the front of the skirt and two others are patched on the back. The addition of patched pockets provides a timeless look with a nod to workwear.

Master tailor Jean-Jacques Tuffery shares his maintenance tips.

“Master tailors will always prefer raw jeans to light jeans. But light jeans remain a staple of the wardrobe that can be worn both summer and winter and have retained their image of timeless vintage trousers.

All of our light jeans are treated by a historic company in Sarthe that has a strong environmental conscience. All effluent is treated and the water is recycled.”

History

A LEGACY OF HANDIWORK AND EXPERTISE

Some 125 years ago, Célestin Tuffery’s huge scissors cut the first fabric from Nîmes, giving birth to denim jeans. Working this fabric by hand, a fully-fledged discipline within tailoring, has been passed down from generation to generation in the workshop. Every day, our master tailors Jean-Jacques and Norbert, the third generation of the Tuffery family, continue to transmit the secrets of Célestin and Alphonse to a whole new generation of expert jeans tailors.
