Master tailor's tip
Atelier Tuffery leatherworkers Julie and Mehdi share their maintenance tips.
“Our leather skins are subjected to the most natural treatments. We nourish the skins before shaping them and wax the cut pieces with beeswax to protect them. This means that at first there is no need to apply anything.
Also, avoid nourishing creams and other polishes which are too thick and fatty as they tend to saturate the skin and clog the pores.
If necessary, apply neatsfoot oil once or twice a year using a brush or soft cloth, taking care not to soak the leather too much.”
History
A LEGACY OF LEATHERWORK
For 125 years, Atelier Tuffery’s French jeans have included at least one piece of leather, the famous jacron bearing the brand’s seal. The workshop’s tailors have always chosen this high-quality material from neighbouring tanneries and enjoy the mixture of cotton and leather. Made from full-grain leather, our leather pieces are mostly vegetable tanned (based on bark packed with tannins).
“A beautiful story, savoir-faire, know-how and life skills. A beautiful project with real values and a passion that is felt by every word. Congratulations and thank you”
At Atelier Tuffery, all of our materials are cut in the workshop and each piece is assembled by hand. This ensures that we create high-quality garments which meet our demanding standards, which have not changed in 125 years. We prioritise a carefully managed production flow for the well-being of our employees and to avoid waste. If the garment you order is not in stock, it will take us just a little bit of time to create it especially for you. Quality takes time so be patient, you won’t regret it.
