“Master tailors will always prefer raw jeans to light jeans. But light jeans remain a staple of the wardrobe that can be worn both summer and winter and have retained their image of timeless vintage trousers.
All of our light jeans are treated by a historic company in Sarthe that has a strong environmental conscience. All effluent is treated and the water is recycled.”
Some 125 years ago, Célestin Tuffery’s huge scissors cut the first fabric from Nîmes, giving birth to denim jeans. Working this fabric by hand, a fully-fledged discipline within tailoring, has been passed down from generation to generation in the workshop. Every day, our master tailors Jean-Jacques and Norbert, the third generation of the Tuffery family, continue to transmit the secrets of Célestin and Alphonse to a whole new generation of expert jeans tailors.
“Some of our pieces have a first name, directly inspired by one of the characters who have marked the history of the Tuffery family.
These are the lives of people who gave birth to our clothes, such as Aimé.”
Trail-blazing and dynamic, Aimée was the baker who worked right opposite the workshop. When summer was coming, she took her scissors to her jeans to free up her movements and make it more comfortable when working close to the ovens.
“An exceptional welcome which allows you to discover the passion of 4 generations. Marketing that must be encouraged to promote French know-how around the world. If you cannot get to Florac, do not hesitate to order online. With the size guide you will be able to choose without problems and if, by any chance, you are not satisfied you can return your purchase to exchange… A big congratulations to the Tuffery Family I am a big fan!”

At Atelier Tuffery, all of our materials are cut in the workshop and each piece is assembled by hand. This ensures that we create high-quality garments which meet our demanding standards, which have not changed in 125 years. We prioritise a carefully managed production flow for the well-being of our employees and to avoid waste. If the garment you order is not in stock, it will take us just a little bit of time to create it especially for you. Quality takes time so be patient, you won’t regret it.
